Water Testing Advocacy

Meeting Minutes :

  • 6/20/2023:

    • We Thank City of BeeCave, Texas, Mayor Kara King and City Manager Clint Garza for meeting with us in person to give us a chance to present our research on water quality detection methods and how it can benefit water quality testing and West Travis County Annual water quality Report.

    • Went over current contaminants like microplastics that are not being tested and published for in Travis county waters. And demonstrated our working model which can be used in collecting data for water quality.

    • Mayor and City Manager were impressed by the research, and wanted us to work with Texas State University, Meadows Center for Water and the Environment Research Division to collborate with them.

    • Lobbying policy Change: Since testing for microplastics in Texas waters is not being currently done on a regular basis, hence no data is published on water quality with regards to it. we are trying to push for that to change by using our research to expand water quality testing of microplastics across all water bodies of Texas in order to spread awareness to the general population about the levels of microplastic found in various sources of their drinking water.
